George Orwell, 1984, and finding it in the News

About

From “1984″:

1
It was a bright cold day in April, and the clocks were striking thirteen. Winston Smith, his chin nuzzled into his breast in an effort to escape the vile wind, slipped quickly through the glass doors of Victory Mansions, though not quickly enough to prevent a swirl of gritty dust from entering along with him.

And with that first paragraph of 1984 George Orwell steps us into a world that we never have forgotten once we read it, and more frigtheningly, has come closer to our own lives every year since.
This blog will work to compare and contrast the nightmarish future Winston was enduring with our own that has closed around us slowly through Endless Wars, Patriot Acts, and back and forth posturing from Political Parties.

Will we ever learn to love Big Brother? In a novel we often are concenred with one of few characters. In real live this struggle is and will be carried out billions of time.
